English-speaking dentist in Sofia

SF Dent is an English-speaking dental clinic in Izgrev, Sofia: the clinic's founder, Dr. Sandy Festok, speaks English, as does our nurse. We are at 22 Elemag St, open Monday to Friday 09:00–18:00, with an English price list in euro – an examination is 30.00 € – and online booking.

Moving to a new country is hard enough without trying to explain a toothache in Bulgarian. Who speaks English at SF Dent

• Dr. Sandy Festok – the clinic's founder, a graduate of the Faculty of Dental Medicine at the Medical University of Sofia (2009) and a member of the Bulgarian Dental Association. She speaks English and Arabic as well as Bulgarian.
• Yana Vasileva – our nurse, who speaks Bulgarian and English.

When you book, tell us that you would like your visit in English, and we will make sure an English speaker is with you from the reception to the treatment plan.

The full price list is in English and in euro. You get the price of your treatment before it starts, after the examination – there are no charges you have not agreed to.

How to book

1. Online: use the "Book an appointment" button – it opens our booking calendar on Superdoc, where you can choose a time.
2. By phone: call +359 87 666 2785 during opening hours and say you would like to speak English.
3. At the visit: the dentist examines you, explains in English what is needed and what it costs, and starts only when you agree.

What to expect at your first visit

1. Welcome and medical history. We ask about your symptoms, medicines, allergies and earlier treatment.
2. Examination. The dentist checks your teeth and gums and takes an X-ray if needed.
3. Plan and price. We explain what is needed, the options and what each costs, from the price list in euro.
4. Treatment. It starts once you agree – at the same visit if it is short and there is time, or at the next.

If anything is unclear, ask – it is better to ask twice than to start treatment you do not fully understand.

Health insurance if you are not Bulgarian

SF Dent works with Bulgaria's National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF, НЗОК). If you are insured in Bulgaria – for example through a Bulgarian employer – part of basic dental care can be done under the health fund; see Dentist under the NHIF. Otherwise treatment is paid according to the price list. If you have private or travel insurance from home, ask your insurer what they need from us – usually an itemised invoice.

Toothache or a broken tooth

If you have severe pain, swelling, a broken tooth or a lost filling or crown, call us during opening hours and we will tell you when we can see you. The clinic is closed outside opening hours; if swelling is spreading fast, or you have difficulty swallowing or breathing or a high temperature, seek emergency medical care (in Bulgaria, call 112).

What to bring

• a list of the medicines you take and any allergies – in English is fine;
• recent dental X-rays or treatment notes from home, if you have them;
• an identity document; and your Bulgarian health insurance details if you want treatment under the NHIF.
