Emergency Dentist in Sofia: Pain, Swelling, Broken Tooth

If you have severe toothache, swelling, a broken tooth or a knocked-out tooth, you can call SF Dent on +359 87 666 2785 or message us on WhatsApp on the same number – the clinic accepts emergency cases during working hours, Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 19:00. On Saturdays and Sundays an appointment is possible by prior arrangement and may carry an additional fee. The examination costs €30.00, with anaesthesia, an X-ray or a temporary filling added as needed depending on the case.

What counts as a dental emergency?

Not every toothache requires immediate attention, but there are situations you shouldn't put off. Emergencies include severe, persistent pain, visible swelling of the face or gums, trauma with a broken or knocked-out tooth, and bleeding that won't stop.

A raised temperature together with a dental problem, or difficulty swallowing or breathing, are signs of an infection that may spread beyond the mouth. In such cases emergency medical help is needed, not just a dental visit.

  • Severe, throbbing pain that doesn't ease with painkillers
  • Swelling of the cheek, gum or under the eye
  • A broken, knocked-out or badly loosened tooth after an impact
  • Bleeding from the gum or mouth that doesn't stop
  • Fever, swelling and difficulty swallowing or breathing – seek emergency help

What to do before you reach the dentist

If you're in severe pain, rinse your mouth with lukewarm water and gently clear any food debris from the area. A cold compress on the outside of the cheek reduces swelling and offers temporary relief.

If a tooth has been knocked out, try to keep it moist – in milk or in your own saliva – and seek help as soon as possible, as time matters. Painkillers and other medication should only be taken after an examination and at a doctor's discretion, since certain substances can affect bleeding or subsequent treatment.

How to get a same-day appointment at SF Dent

The fastest way to reach the clinic is by phone on +359 87 666 2785 or by sending a WhatsApp message to the same number. Briefly describe your symptoms – pain, swelling, trauma – so the team can judge how urgently to see you.

SF Dent is located at ul. Elemag 22, Izgrev, 1113 Sofia, and is open Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 19:00. In an emergency on a Saturday or Sunday, an appointment is possible by prior arrangement, and an additional fee may apply on those days. Appointments can also be booked online via Superdoc using the “Book Appointment” button on the website, but in an emergency calling is the faster option. More contact details can be found in the contact and booking section.

What the emergency examination includes and how much it costs

During an emergency examination, the dentist first assesses the condition and, if needed, takes a sectional X-ray to establish the cause of the pain or the extent of the damage. The examination costs €30.00, and the sectional X-ray is €6.00.

If the area needs to be numbed, administering local anaesthesia costs €11.00. In many cases, especially with deep decay or early pulp infection, the dentist places a medicated dressing and a temporary filling to control the pain until the next visit – this service costs €31.00. For a more severely affected tooth, root canal treatment may be discussed, and when a tooth cannot be saved, tooth extraction is considered.

When it's a true emergency and you should seek urgent medical help

If, alongside toothache, you have pronounced swelling spreading towards the neck or eye, a high temperature, or difficulty swallowing or breathing, don't wait for a dental appointment – seek emergency medical help immediately.

Such symptoms can indicate a spreading infection that requires treatment beyond the dental surgery.
